So Excited to get Gold from Green Tourism Scheme

My business, Highland Journeys , which provides exciting tours of Aberdeenshire, Balmoral Castle and the Highlands of Scotland, was recently awarded GOLD from the accredited Green Tourism Scheme. This means so much to me and my business. It is an amazing accolade and it feels good to be doing my bit for the environment, something that I am passionate about.

It was alot of work, but definitely worth it! I can now pass on all my “green knowledge” during my guided tours and discuss relevant topics such as the decline in Atlantic salmon in our majestic rivers or the decline of our beautiful native rare bird, the Capercaillie or the positive news about the rewilding of huge areas of the Highlands of Scotland. There are now over 150 rewilding projects across Scotland. It is exciting to see the environment being brought back to how it should be.

Whilst out and about on my tours, we definitely try to visit places that are local and sustainable. For 2024, I have added a new tour. It is called the Nature and Balmoral Castle Tour. This tour takes us into the heart of the Cairngorms National Park where we visit a lovely nature reserve and go walkabout in the rich forests of pine and birch trees and also visit an unusual glacial pot-hole, the height of 3 double-decker buses! Then we visit the mighty Balmoral Castle and Estates, another paradise in the Highlands.

Here’s to a green future for Highland Journeys and lots of happy, sustainable travelling with visitors in this beautiful North-east corner of Scotland.
